Xsensible is a family business that has been active in the footwear industry for over 100 years. Since 2021, the next generation has taken the lead, with Thomas and Isabel Krol at the helm. In this podcast episode, they share their experiences with modernizing the company while staying true to its core values of comfort and balance.
One of the most significant changes in recent years is the introduction of the “Next Generation” sole, designed to appeal to a younger and more fashion-conscious audience. Today, this innovation already accounts for around 45% of total sales. “We want to become the Nike of comfort shoes,” says Thomas. Innovation in both design and technology goes hand in hand with a strong brand identity.
But the transition wasn’t only about products. Isabel highlights how important team culture has become: “We’ve worked hard on achieving internal balance—not just in our shoes, but in the way we work together.” From business planning weeks to sports activities for employees, staff are actively involved in the company’s growth.
In-store experience is also a key focus. Xsensible invests in shop-in-shop concepts with dedicated brand presentation, ensuring that customers in physical stores enjoy the same brand experience as online or through campaigns. “It’s all about recognition and trust,” Thomas explains.
