TWNS The Label: Knitwear at the Core
TWNS The Label is Dimitri’s own brand, fully dedicated to knitwear.
“TWNS The Label is purely about knitwear. It’s our in-house brand, and we’re working hard to establish it across Europe,” he explains. The label already has a strong presence, with twelve agents operating across the continent, and continues to grow. Alongside TWNS The Label, Dimitri also represents a variety of other brands through his showroom, Twins Distribution, serving clients in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg.
The synergy between these two business areas is clear.
“When clients visit us, they naturally see the vibrant colors and playful designs of our knitwear—and many are happy to add them to their own boutique collections,” says Dimitri. The network he has built as an agent gives TWNS The Label a strategic advantage in terms of market reach and visibility.
Wearing Two Hats: The Challenge of Entrepreneurship
Indeed, Dimitri wears two hats—on one hand as the creator of his own brand, and on the other as an agent for other labels. This dual role can be demanding, especially when it comes to managing time and maintaining focus.
“It’s definitely intense—especially when it comes to time management,” he says. “We really need strong internal systems to keep everything aligned.”
Still, his experience in both roles offers valuable insights.
“It’s an advantage when working with other agents starting out with us—we understand both sides. We know what works and what doesn’t. When to deliver, and what the key points in a collection are.”
This dual perspective helps the team to strategically position and grow TWNS The Label.
“1 plus 1 equals 3,” Dimitri says with a smile, referring to the powerful synergy that comes from combining both roles.
Inspiration: Color and Family as Creative Drivers
Dimitri draws a great deal of inspiration for TWNS The Label from his personal life.
“The name ‘Twins’ says it all—I have twins myself, and their drawings, sketches, and use of color bring a fresh creative perspective to our brand,” he says. This constant source of new energy ensures that the brand remains vibrant—just like his other label, Tara Jewels, known for its colorful identity.
“Everything is colorful—from the paintings at home to clothing, shoes, and the little details. We really do bring sunshine indoors,” he adds.
His partner Tara, who is from the Caribbean, also plays an important role in shaping the brand's energy.
“There’s a Caribbean influence as well—there’s always color,” Dimitri explains. He believes this vibrant, joyful energy is a key signature of their work, even in the face of life’s challenges.
Sustainability: A Growing Responsibility
Sustainability is becoming increasingly critical in the fashion industry, and TWNS The Label is fully aware of the need to manage resources responsibly.
“We’re definitely focused on sustainability and recycling. We’re part of a Dutch organization that specializes in textile recycling,” Dimitri explains.
However, regulatory differences across Europe present challenges.
“It’s tough—each country has its own regulations when it comes to recycling, packaging, and textiles,” he says. Despite these obstacles, the company continues to make progress through collaboration with local partners and institutions abroad.
As an entrepreneur, Dimitri is clearly driven by passion and belief in his vision.
“If you feel it and you dream of it—go for it,” he advises fellow entrepreneurs. “Just make the plan and start. Don’t wait. Don’t hesitate. Because it might be too late.”
This optimism and drive are the foundation on which Twins Distribution and TWNS The Label are built. Dimitri believes the key to success is staying positive and determined—even when facing setbacks.
“It’s not always easy, but every experience teaches you something. In the end, it’s about reaching that goal—seeing your own label walking down the street.”
