
Dutch retail grows 3.8 percent in September; clothing up, footwear down
5 November 2025Dutch retail recorded a 3.8 percent increase in turnover in September compared to the same month last year, according to newly released, calendar-adjusted figures from Statistics Netherlands (CBS). Sales volume rose by 1.4 percent.
The non-food sector, which includes fashion, saw total turnover grow by 3.7 percent. Volume in the non-food sector was 1.9 percent higher than a year earlier.
Mixed results in fashion: clothing up, footwear down
Performance in the fashion sector showed a sharply divided picture in September. Clothing stores reported a 4.3 percent increase in turnover compared to September 2024.
