Van Lier is focusing on international expansion
20 November 2025Following a recent relaunch, footwear brand Van Lier is already looking ahead: the brand is taking the step towards international expansion. Germany is the first destination, with an online shop and wholesale operations planned for 2026, followed by potential expansions into France, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Shoe brand Van Lier plans to expand into Germany and, at a later stage, possibly also into France, the United Kingdom and the United States. The first phase is scheduled for 2026 and will include both an online shop and wholesale operations, the new CEO Nick de Ronde Bresser told Retailtrends.
“The fit of our shoes is unique and perfectly suited to the German market,” says De Ronde Bresser. “The story of Dutch craftsmanship also fits in perfectly with our marketing strategy in Germany. What’s more, we have the production capacity to scale up.”
Van Lier was declared bankrupt in August 2025. Shortly before that, the shops had already gone bankrupt. At the end of August, the company relaunched under the leadership of entrepreneur Nick de Ronde Bresser, who acquired a majority stake and also became CEO.
